“The Pacific” is History Book Club choice for February 17

The Library will launch a new history book discussion series on Wednesday, February 17 at 4 pm. The first book to be discussed will be “The Pacific” by Hugh Ambrose. This is the story of the war in the Pacific as told by men who fought it. Drawing on diaries and memoirs kept at the time by U.S. Marines and Navy pilots, Ambrose weaves a narrative that starts with the Old Breed in Shanghai, covers the desperate fight for Guadalcanal, the brutality of Peleliu and Okinawa, and ends where it began in the occupation of southern China.  Copies are now available for checkout. This in-person discussion is limited to fifteen participants. Advance sign-up is requested. Future titles and dates will be announced.
